AI-enabled Platform for Monitoring and Maintenance of Industrial Equipment
Short description of the business experiment
This project aims to enhance the performance of the mAIntAIn platform by leveraging the power of high-performance computing (HPC) systems. mAIntAIn, a software solution currently developed by Nessos, optimises the monitoring and maintenance of industrial equipment in order to predict failures, diagnose malfunctions, and maximise operational duration. While it is currently targeted at the maritime industry—specifically ship engines and other machinery—it has the potential to be extended to any type of industrial equipment.
The novelty of mAIntAIn lies in its use of advanced computational mechanics and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to simulate equipment operation and damage propagation, as well as estimate the probability of failure. As these technologies require substantial computational resources to deliver high-fidelity predictions, this project will focus on replacing the most time- and memory-intensive components with algorithms designed for HPC environments. The anticipated speed-up will not only improve the end-user experience but, more importantly, will enable more detailed and accurate simulations that were previously impractical—thereby further reducing the financial costs of maintenance.
