FF4EuroHPC Success Story titled HPC for Profile Extrusion was published in the Futurities Magazine which presents the future of engineering simulation.
A story addresses the specific challenge SME faced: Plastic profiles offer design freedom but rely on trial-and-error methods, which are time-consuming, costly, and limited by designer experience, especially for complex geometries. The SME, Soprefa, used open-source tools (OpenFOAM, Dakota) on HPC to optimize extrusion dies rapidly, enabling automated trials, CAD integration, and improved designs for complex profiles within one day.
