Fortissimo's Decade-Long Mission Continues: FFplus Project Launches First Open Calls for Business Experiments and Innovation Studies!
We are happy to announce the first FFplus Open Call for Business Experiments and Innovation Studies is officially launched!
FFplus is a European initiative, highlighting the adoption of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and (generative) Artificial Intelligence (AI) for SMEs and Start-ups across Europe, showing the business benefits and impacts of adopting HPC and AI in real business models.
SMEs and Start-ups now have the opportunity to shift their innovation potential through the two types of Open Call:
- Business experiments will address the uptake of HPC by SMEs in order to solve specific business challenges of SMEs that have had no prior use of, or experience with, HPC services.

- Innovation studies will support European SMEs and Start-Ups already active in the field of generative AI technology, which lack the necessary computational resources to scale up.

Main Open Call information:
Submission Deadline: September 4th, 2024 at 17:00 Brussels local time
BUSINESS EXPERIMENTS:
Expected duration of experiments: maximum 15 months with targeted commencement January 1st, 2025
The indicative total funding budget for all sub-projects funded under this call is € 4M. The maximum funding request per proposal is € 200,000 (covering all participants).

Expected duration of experiments: maximum 10 months with targeted commencement December 1st, 2024
The indicative total funding budget for all sub-projects funded under this call is € 4M. The maximum total funding for each innovation study is € 300,000 (covering all participants).

The first FFplus Open Call webinars will take place on July 1st and 8th
- For Business Experiments: July 1st, starting at 13:00 CET and July 8th, starting at 10:00 CET
- For Innovation Studies: July 1st, starting at 15:30 CET and July 8th, starting at 14:00 CET
These webinars address European SMEs and startups, as well as supporting organisations (e.g., research institutes, universities, ISVs, IT providers) who want to learn more about solving business challenges and advancing to the next level with the help of HPC and AI, or taking the opportunity to develop and customise LLM models with generative AI.

The main aim of the FFplus project is to raise awareness about the business benefits that HPC-related and generative AI technologies bring to the industry, especially SMEs and startups, and to support them in bringing their innovation projects to life through the funding mechanisms of the Open Calls.
